You realise what things are truly important in life – the things that you want to spend time on and the things that you want to remember. You get stronger. Believe it or not, but having cancer makes you stronger. You learn to stay positive when you want to crawl up in a ball and cry. Leukemia is also known as blood cancer. This type of cancer infects the bone marrow and causes it to produce white blood cells that are unable to protect the body from infection. There are different types of leukemia including acute myelocytic leukemia and chronic myelocytic leukemia.

There are two main types called Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is accompanied by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells, while non-Hodgkin’s isn’t.
Sarcomas appear in the tissues of the body including bone, fat, muscles, and cartilage. This type of cancer looks like the tissue in which it occurs. Bone cancer is one of the most common sarcomas. Sarcomas tend to affect more people of a younger age rather than those that are older.
Carcinomas form in the epithelial layer of cells that cover our bodies and the insides of our organs. The cancer starts in these thin layers of tissue. The majority of cancer cases in the world falls into this category. Examples of cancer types in this category are breast cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, and lung cancer. The two types of carcinoma are adenocarcinoma that occurs in the organ or gland and squamous cell carcinoma that occur in squamous epithelium. The adenocarcinoma types are cancers that spread very fast and are those types that need to be detected early.
Myeloma is another type of blood cancer. This type affects the plasma cells in the blood and inhibits their ability to produce the antibodies the body needs to fight off infection. Myeloma, therefore, reduces the body’s ability to heal itself.
